Typo squatting is actually a thing

The Australian Government this week joined the United States and our other Five Eyes partners to formally blame and condemn China for sponsoring cyber attacks around the world.
In the world of international diplomacy it’s kind of a big deal to accuse our major trading partner of this.
But when the big playground bully keeps stealing the other kids’ lunch money, someone has to speak up, so it is definitely the right move.
The US Government went a step further and published a long list of tactics that these Chinese sponsored cyber criminals are using.
Including typo squatting, which is where hackers create a mirror website of your site but it has a slightly misspelt URL that you are unlikely to notice.
As I said in my LinkedIn video, the list is pretty technical but well worth sharing with your Chief Information Officer or IT lead.
